The ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ star admitted that it was a “big” challenge for him during his days as a struggling thespian.

Uzor Arukwe, the popular Nollywood actor, has made a new claim.

He claimed that there was a time when social media following was one of the prerequisites for thespians to get movie roles from some producers in the Nigerian movie industry.

He said filmmakers cast actors based on social media followers rather than talent.

The ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ star admitted that it was a “big” challenge for him during his days as a struggling thespian.

“I remember all so clearly when I started. It was a big problem for me,” the 40-year-old actor told Pulse in a recent interview.

“There was a time in this industry when it was mostly about Instagram and Twitter followers, and stuff like that. I didn’t understand it but knew it was something I had to be at peace with, because a production house wants to hire you and they’re looking at your numbers. ‘But can he act?’ That is the question I always ask. But there are some people who are blessed who are fantastic actors who have numbers and they’ve been doing well.”

This comes after the in-laws of Wofai Fada issued a disclaimer rejecting her marriage to their son.

The twin sister of Wofai Fada's new husband, Taiwo Cole, has warmly welcomed her new sister-in-law into the family, emphasizing the importance of love guiding their relationships.

She said “Let love lead”, as she accepts Wofai as her sister-in-law.

This comes after the in-laws of Wofai Fada issued a disclaimer rejecting her marriage to their son.

The statement which was signed by Engineer Kunle Cole on behalf of the family stated that all acquaintances, family and friends are not aware of any marriage between their son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole and Wofai Fada, and neither was any permission granted in this regard.

Edo: Police Re-Arrest Prisoner Who Escaped From Jail During #EndSARS Protest

Adegboye said the inmate was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment by the Edo High Court for raping his own daughter, Gift Alonge.

The Edo State Police have recaptured Jacob Alonge, a 58-year-old fugitive who had escaped from the Benin Correctional Centre during the 2020 #EndSARS protests in the state.

Daily Post reports that the Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City.

Adegboye said the inmate was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment by the Edo High Court for raping his own daughter, Gift Alonge.

According to him, “While the case is ongoing in court, he threatened that the case would have no end and true to his threat, his daughter and others who were coming to testify in court died mysteriously but he was convicted.

“After escaping from the prison during the 2020 #EndSARS protest, he was not re-arrested, but nemesis has caught up with him and he has been re-arrested and would be taken to where he belong.”

Adegboye, who described the convict as a dangerous human being, added that he is not fit to live with human beings.

He said the convict, who was serving a jail term, escaped during the #EndSARS jail break in the two custodial centres in Benin.

According to him, the police got credible intelligence that the convict, a serial rapist, was sighted at Ososo community in Akoko-Edo local government of the state.

The CP disclosed that the operatives of the Command stormed the community to arrest the inmate but some unscrupulous elements in community resisted his arrest.

He said the operatives overpowered those that resisted the arrest of the convict, following which he was re-arrested and brought to the Command.

The commissioner, however, appealed to members of the community not shield criminals because they may be their victims tomorrow, noting that criminal don’t have permanent friends.

In an interview with newsmen, the convict said he escaped because everyone was escaping after the prison was forced open during the #EndSARS protest.

“I escaped to my village. I was called that police are in my house and are looking for me, so I went to meet them and I was arrested,” he stated.

Bandits Are Now Recruiting Young People Into Crime For As Low As N500 – Governor Radda Says

The governor worried that banditry has become a business venture for some persons including government officials.

Dikko Radda, the Governor of Katsina State has revealed the bandits are recruiting young people into crime for as low as N500.

Governor Radda made this revelation in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

According to him, poverty is one of the major factors fueling banditry in the country.

He said, “The issue of the hypothesis behind political motive as responsible for banditry is not true.

“Secondly, what also causes the recruitment of under the logistics services for bandits was a result of poverty because surprisingly with N5,000, N2,000, and N500, you can be able to convince some of these youths to join into this exercise which brings about money,” he said.

The governor worried that banditry has become a business venture for some persons including government officials.

He said, “Now it has turned out to be a business venture. A business venture for the criminals, some people who are in government; and some people who are in security outfits, and some people who are responsible for the day-to-day activities of their people.

“These are so many reasons why we are unable to bring banditry to an end.”

Recall that bandits have repeatedly raided rural communities in the north, leaving many killed.

President Bola Tinubu has expressed renewed commitment to taming insecurity, amid calls for negotiations with bandits.

But the Katsina State governor said his government will never negotiate from a “point of weakness”.

“When you understand the kterrain of the forest, and the different camps that we have within those forests… like in Katsina, we have more than 100 different camps that are being led by somebody.

“So, they have many leaders, many camps and if you’re negotiating with camps A and B and don’t negotiate with camps C and D, it will not bring any lasting peace,” he said.

Radda further stated, “Even if you negotiate with the leaders, the other followers of the leaders may not necessarily comply with the directives of their leader.

“So that is what makes the negotiation with the bandits a very difficult task.

"What I said is that I would never go into negotiations with any criminal at the point of weakness,” he said.

Nigerian veteran entertainer, Charly Boy has called out ex-presidential aide, Reno Omokri for armed robbery and r3pe.

In a Twitter post, he claimed that Omokri played down armed robbery allegations against him while using the name of Peter Obi to chase clout online.

He also slammed Omokri after his brother was alleged to have r3ped a 15-year-old girl.

Charly Boy took to Twitter and wrote:
