May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has taken legal action against individuals she accused of orchestrating a sustained campaign of cyberbullying, harassment and defamation against her on social media.
The entrepreneur and brand influencer approached the Lagos State High Court, seeking orders compelling the removal of several social media accounts allegedly used to publish defamatory content about her online.
In the suit, marked LD/10737GCM/2026, May also asked the court to restrain Yinka Omolola Theisen, Emeka Ugwuonye and unidentified operators of several social media accounts from making further publications she described as false, threatening and damaging to her reputation.
The application, filed through her legal representatives, Jessica Egbafor and Esther Fijo of Greylaw Partners, seeks a perpetual injunction preventing the defendants from engaging in any further acts of online harassment or defamation.
May is also asking the court to order the deletion of the disputed posts and social media accounts, while directing the affected platforms to disclose information about the account holders to assist with investigations.
In a 126-paragraph affidavit filed in support of the suit, the businesswoman alleged that she has been subjected to years of coordinated online attacks aimed at ridiculing, intimidating and tarnishing her public image.
She claimed the defendants published false allegations, manipulated photographs, AI-generated images, insulting caricatures, d£ath wishes and other offensive materials intended to damage her reputation.
According to May, despite issuing cease-and-desist notices to some of the defendants in 2025 demanding the removal of the publications, the alleged harassment only intensified, with new social media accounts reportedly created to continue the attacks.
She further accused one of the defendants, whom she identified as her former lawyer, of breaching solicitor-client confidentiality by allegedly publishing information obtained during the course of legal representation.
May maintained that the alleged defamatory publications had negatively affected her businesses, endorsement deals and commercial relationships.
She also told the court that the online circulation of her personal contact details had exposed her family members to harassment, while causing her emotional distress, anxiety and concerns for her safety.
She therefore urged the court to grant an order restraining the defendants from making any further publications about her and compelling the removal of all disputed online content.
Justice Abdul-Raheem Tejumade Muyideen has directed that all court processes be served on the defendants through their last known residential addresses, email addresses, social media accounts and other electronic communication channels.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter for a report on the service of court processes.
The latest suit follows legal notices issued by May Edochie in September 2025, in which she accused Emeka Ugwuonye and Yinka Omolola Theisen of cyberbullying, cyberstalking and defamation.
In those notices, she demanded public retractions, apologies and damages of ₦1 billion from Ugwuonye and ₦500 million from Theisen over the alleged harm to her reputation and business interests.
